Hold fast, all together, to Allahs cord, and do not be divided [into sects]. And remember Allahs blessing upon you when you were enemies, then He brought your hearts together, so you became brothers (Holy Qur’an, 3:103)
You who believe, enter absolutely into peace! Do not follow Satans footsteps; he is an open enemy of yours (Holy Qur’an-2:208)
O Muslims! Keep Away From the Disuniters!
O you powerful Muslims! Beware! Know yourselves and let the world know you.
Cast aside the sectarian and regional disputes, which have been created by the
World-devouring powers and their corrupt agents for the purpose of plundering you and treading upon your human and Islamic honor
(Statements of Imam Khomeini R.A.)
The Islamic Unity Week is marked between 12-17th Rabiul Awwal (respectively according to Sunni and Shi’ite perspective) on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.A.W.). This period in which Muslims ponder on the fundamental call of unity according to the Holy Quran was proposed by the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (R.A.), following the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979.
The days between these two days, were announced as the Unity Week by the great founder of the Islamic revolution, Imam Khomeini (R.A.) for keeping the unity among Muslims. From that day on, the glorious birth of the prophet of Islam has been celebrated as the Unity Week among all Muslim nations. The reason of announcing the Unity Week by Imam Khomeini (R.A.) was also preventing the Muslim nations from divisions and by this innovation he emphasized on the Muslim unity against the conspiracy of enemies of Islam who attempt to cause discord among our Sunni and Shi’ite brothers.
